Music is In His Blood

I love this picture of Gabriel playing guitar. This was taken at his preschool's spring carnival. They had a petting zoo, snow cones, jumpy houses, clowns making balloon animals, and a teacher from the guitar school next door. Gabriel's favorite part, by far, was the guitar. :)

Pearly Whites

Gabriel had his first visit to the dentist this morning. We saw Dr. Singleton at Groovy Molar. The goody bag was groovy. :)

We told Gabriel last night while he was brushing his teeth before bedtime that he would be going to the dentist so the dentist could look at all his teeth. He told us no.

As we got ready for school, I told him again that we were going to go to the dentist and then I would take him to school. He said he wanted to go to school first.

When we got closer to the dentist's office, he told me the dentist needed to look at my teeth first.
I could tell he was feeling a bit anxious about the idea, so I wasn't sure how well the whole visit was going to go.

However, once we got there, he opened big and wide for the assistant and the doctor and he didn't fuss AT ALL. I mean, not even a little bit. He was completely happy and completely cooperative.

And the very best part is that there is no evidence of cavities and no problems related to the fact that he sucks on his finger quite a bit.

Whew!

Good job, little monkey!!

Visit from Sarah's Family

My sister Sarah moved her posse up to Colorado just after Gabriel's first birthday and I'm not sure he's seen them in person since his party that year.

Luckily, Sarah, Casey, Blake (8), and Caleb (4.5) made a tour of family and friends in Texas and New Mexico and we were lucky enough to be their first stop.

Let me tell you, three boys in the house is a LOT louder than just one.

3rd Birthday Party

We held Gabriel's birthday party at The Little Gym of Round Rock this year. He and his friends got to run around and climb and tumble just like they're never allowed to do at home on the couch.

Here's all but two of the guests who came to celebrate with us.

Aunt Jordan made cupcakes for us. A few too many cupcakes. I was expecting parents to eat some, but they didn't.

I tried to continue the grumpy clown tradition of getting a picture of Gabriel with the rainbow wig on. He didn't really want any part of it.

But Will, Ruby, and uncle Matt humored me. :)

*Credit to Matt's family for the pic of him dressed as Bozo.

Matching Manicures

Gabriel saw that I was painting my fingernails recently and wanted to paint his, too. We had a trial run a couple of times where we'd paint one or two nails and then he would immediately want me to take it off.

Then we were at Target one day, and I was looking for the perfect silver polish. Gabriel decided he needed a color he liked, so I let him pick one out.

Then we went home and got matching manicures...
I haven't managed to get a picture of his hands painted, but here's mine.

2014 Ramirez Family Reunion

Last weekend, Grammaw, Aunt Jordan, cousin Will, Aunt Joanah, Gabriel, and I drove up to the Dallas area for a family reunion of Justin's grandmother's family. It wasn't quite as large a crowd as two years ago, but we still had a great time visiting with the family.

Last time Gabriel had just turned one year old and wasn't too mobile or interactive with folks. This year, he and Will were running around like they owned the place. They made quick friends of other cousins and had a blast.

I didn't take a bunch of pictures, but here are a couple to commemorate the day.

This is Justin's grandmother's sister Lily doing a soft shoe routine as part of the talent show. So great to watch her living life to its fullest.
